Last week of Term 2

It has been a short but action-packed week in Year One!

On Monday we had pyjama day to raise funds for Wheelchairs For Kids.

We investigated the ‘ow’ (as in cow) sound this week. Our text was a poem about a grumpy queen who eventually lost her frown with the help of an owl-faced clown. The students played some ‘Roll and read’ games and also reinforced the sound through writing and drawing.

In Maths we have finished the term by doing some more work on larger numbers, partitioning and place value.

On Tuesday morning we did some cooking in preparation for our ‘Celebration of the past’ morning. The students helped to make some Anzac biscuits and chocolate-peppermint slice.

Then in the afternoon they had their Edu-dance concert. They did such an amazing performance!

I have uploaded a video of the dance to this link:

On Wednesday it was an exciting morning with the classroom set up - with thanks to Mrs Wright and Mrs Anderson for their help - for our special morning. It was so good to hear chatter, laughs and knowledge being shared. It was also wonderful to watch the students playing games with their grandparents and happily sharing all the things they had learned.
Have a wonderful holiday and we’ll see you in Term 3!
